Demo Westville You may purchase this painting for R3600 It was painted .............     THE ARTIST AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE BUSY MAKING THINGS – BE IT DOLL`S CLOTHES,  EARLY DRAWINGS,  POTTERY ETC  (NO DOUBT INHERITED THESE URGES FROM MY MOTHER CORA LAWSON, ALSO AN ARTIST)   I STUDIED CERAMICS PART-TIME AT PORT ELIZABETH TECHNIKON AND WORKED AS A POTTER UNTIL 1990 WHEN I ENROLLED AT TECHNIKON NATAL AS A FINE ART STUDENT AFTER HAVING STUDIED DRAWING WITH THE LATE META ORTON FOR AN EXTENSIVE PERIOD.   IT WAS THEN THAT THE INTEREST IN PAINTING AND DRAWING DEVELOPED IN EARNEST.  AS A STUDENT I TOOK PART IN VARIOUS GROUP EXHIBITIONS AND WAS AWARDED BEST DRAWING STUDENT AND A CERTIFICATE OF MERIT (CERAMICS )  IN THIRD YEAR.  FOR MY NATIONAL HIGHER DIP I CONCENTRATED ON LARGE FORMAT MIXED MEDIA WORKS ON CANVAS.   I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY TAKEN PART IN LOCAL GROUP EXHIBITIONS AND HAD A WORK ACCEPTED IN 1996 FOR THE LAST NATAL BIENALE.  I AM PRESIDENT OF THE UPPERS SOUTH COAST ART ASSOCIATION FOR 2005.   I ENJOYED TEACHING ART TO THE SENIOR CLASSES AT SCOTTBURGH HIGH SCHOOL FOR A TERM AND HAVE GIVEN ART LESSONS AND DRAWING WORKSHOPS AT MY UMKOMAAS  STUDIO/GALLERY.   IF A SCENE OR OBJECT SAYS “ PAINT ME” I USUALLY OBEY!  IT`S THEN CLEAR THAT MAKING ART  IS A PASSION HERE.                                  8 Oceanview Terrace, 8 Harvey Street,Umkomaas, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa Tel 039  973 0747     email goss-ross@scottburgh.co.za VISIT LORRAINE AT HER UMKOMAAS STUDIO/GALLERY FOR AN "ARTFELT" EXPERIENCE!! Notes on paintings

Black Eagle R3900 (Framed)

This oil painting was done after a visit to the Karoo national park. It was a special time for us watching the parents feeding their chicks which soon after fledged. The works measures 84 x 64 cms.

Blou Wildebeest R4500 (framed)

I just love the colour of the grass against the blue mountains at Ithala on the Pongola River. This oil on canvas measures 122 x 92 cms.

Blue Abstract R3900 (unframed)

Some Indian print material, gold & blue paint, and thoughts of creation were the initial ideas behind this work. It would look beautiful in a contemporary setting, simply framed. It measures 120 x 80 cms.

Durban Botanical Gardens

I have tried to capture the essence of this special place. It isn't always easy doing "green" paintings of our luscious plant life. This is a mixed medium oil over acrylic and measures 86 x 64 cms.

Eastern Cape Autumn R1700 (framed)

I had to record this quaint old farm which we saw one May morning while travelling South. It's an oil measuring 46 x 37 cms.

Here I have tried to capture the grandeur of the mountains by trying to simplify it all. Acrylic measuring 46 x 37

KZN Flowers R4300 (unframed)

KZN flowers are strong, robust and vibrant. Here I've painted some anthuriums growing in the Durban Botanical Gardens. It's oil on canvas (no frame necessary) and measures approximately 86 x 64 cms.

Lion R3600 (framed)

This portrait done in Rembrandt pastel is beautifully presented in a large walnut frame.

Unframed size is 57 x 45 cms.

Marakesh Window R2900 (framed)

After a visit to Marakesh I think this work captures some of the mystery, rich colours and vibrancy of the old city. DOne in acrylic and oil it measures 80 x 60 cms.

Midlands in May (framed) R3600

The area around Nottingham Road in the Natal Midlands is extra beautiful during autumn.

I love the colours. This is an oil measuring 86 x 64 cms
